This bit has two half rings in the jaw piece which offers more control than normal rings. The ordered jawpiece has several options for attaching the reins, allowing you to determine how much pressure you want to apply. The cheekpiece is attached to the top half ring and the reins can be attached to the large ring or to the bottom half ring. By attaching the reins to the large ring, pressure is applied to lower the head. When the reins are attached to the lower half ring, the bit has mild leverage for better responsiveness. The loose rings keep the bit mobile in the mouth, which ensures good acceptance of the bit. The mouthpiece with brass rings is a variant of the double jointed bit. The rings in the middle encourage the horse to play with the bit. This increases the tongue activity so that a horse will produce more saliva and the jaws can relax more so that the horse will release more quickly in the mouth.
The Sweet Iron bits are made of steel and have a recognizable blue color. Sweet Iron develops surface rust through contact with (air) moisture that tastes sweet and stimulates the horse's saliva production in a natural way. This will cause the horse to foam more, which ensures better acceptance of the bit. This rusting process (oxidation) changes the blue color of the TRUST bits to brown-grey.
